<div style="clear:both;"></div>Das Kechar, das die Alben Nuðæpnskuænganan nennen (Ork-Skuænga), von dem so gut wie jeder orkische Haushalt ein bis mehrere Exemplare besitzt, hat, wie man weiß, eine Vielzahl von Färbungen. Die Grundfarben des Fells variieren von sehr hellem Beige über verschiede Braun und Rottöne bis hin zu tiefem Schwarz. Werden nun verschiedenfarbige Kechem gekreuzt, erhält man zum Teil die kuriosesten Kombinationen, da dies in der Regel in geschecktem Fell hinausläuft. Einfarbige Tiere sind recht selten, doch sie können durchaus aus der Kreuzung zweier gescheckter Exemplare, die beide zwei ähnliche Fellfarben aufweisen, wieder erneut auftreten. Seltene Kuriosa sind Tiere, deren vordere und hintere Körperhälfte sauber in zwei Farben geteilt sind, oder vierfarbige Kechem.<br />Die Kechem in einem Haushalt haben durchaus auch einen optischen Daseinszweck - und so wie man sich durchaus mal an seiner Wohnungseinrichtung sattgesehen hat und einen Tapetenwechsel braucht, so hat sich bei den Orks eine Art Tauschbörse für Kechem eingebürgert. Treffen zwei oder mehr Stämme auf ihren Reisen zusammen, so werden diese Tauschbörsen abgehalten, wo meist der ganze Stamm fast geschlossen mitsamt ihren Kechem erscheint und munter ihre Tiere tauscht. Manch schön gefärbtes, aber störrisches Tier wird dabei klammheimlich abgeschoben, während andere zu ihren zwei schwarzbraunen Kechem noch ein drittes suchen und dafür ihr unpassendes weißrotes Kechar abgeben.<div style="clear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em"></div>

<div style="clear:both;"></div>Man mag es nicht zunächst meinen, doch Orks sind musikalisch sehr begabt und haben eine reiche Vielfalt an Perkussionsinstrumenten - sie musizieren damit normal im Alltag, aber auch rituell, um sich in Trance zu versetzen.<br />Diese urtümliche Musik übt übrigens eine seltsame, fast morbide Faszination auch auf andere Völker aus.<br /><br />Neben zahlreichen Schlag- und Perkussionsinstrumenten verfügen die Orks jedoch auch über mehrere interessante, nur bei ihnen zu findende Blasinstrumente. Sie haben gemeinsam, daß sie in der Regel sehr langgezogen sind und einen sehr tiefen, durchdringenden Klang haben.<br />Die hölzernen Rohre hierfür werden in einem rituell stark festgelegten Prozeß hergestellt. Man nimmt hierzu Krruejta-Holz, welches nur in manchen Gegenden im Westen des Landes wächst. Die Stämme haben eine zähe, glatte Rinde, eine Schicht hartes Mantelholz und schließlich ein relativ weiches Markholz, das ca. 80% des Stammdurchmessers umfasst.<br />Es gibt nun eine Parasitenart, die verletzte oder kranke Exemplare dieser Baumart mitunter befällt: ein ca. 5cm langer Käfer, grünschillernd und länglich, der seine Eier mittels eines langen Stechrüssels unter die Rinde ablegt. Die daraus schlüpfenden Maden fressen sich durch das Mantelholz, sofern dieses durch Krankheit marode geworden ist. Erreichen die Maden das Mark, fressen sie sich dort durch die gesamte Pflanze und zerstören dabei das komplette Mark, der Baum stirbt dabei ab.<br /><br />Orks machen sich dieses Phänomen zu Nutze. Wenn ihre umherziehenden Stämme auf ihren Wanderungen dort im Westen entlangreisen, suchen sie speziell diese Orte auf, an denen diese Bäume wachsen - die Plätze werden von Generation zu Generation weitergegeben. Dort angelangt, begeben sie sich auf die Suche nach kranken Bäumen, in der Hoffnung, einen Baum zu finden, der von diesem Schädling befallen ist. Sind sie fündig geworden, fällen sie diesen Baum und gewinnen dadurch die darin befindlichen Maden. Diese werden nun an das Mark frisch gefällter, gesunder Bäume gesetzt, wonach die Maden das Mark komplett entfernen, so daß nur noch das Mantelholz übrig bleibt. Nun wird noch die Rinde entfernt.<br /><br />Die ausgehöhlten Stämme werden nun mehrere Tage lang in ein Becken gelegt, in dem eine Mischung aus Wasser, verschiedenen Chemikalien (?) und Ork-Urin ist. Der Stamm wird dadurch weich und biegsam, trotz einer Dicke von mitunter 20-25cm. Anschließend wird das Rohr in die gewünschte Form gebracht, evtl. muß der Vorgang auch nochmals wiederholt werden, manchmal müssen auch spezielle Formen und Gerätschaften verwendet werden, um eine bestimmte Form des Rohrs zu erzielen - die Kunst, besondere Formen herzustellen, zeichnet den Könner unter den Instrumentenbauern aus, und sie behalten ihr Wissen oft für sich.<br /><br />Am Schluß wird das Holz mit Harz versiegelt und über dem Feuer geräuchert, wodurch die Oberfläche hart und glatt wird. Ein solches Instrument überdauert oftmals viele Generationen, wenn es von einem Meister gefertigt worden war.<br />Das Rohr wird anschließend noch meist bemalt, mitunter sogar mit dem eigenen Blut! Sie sind sehr wertvoll, und nur reiche Orks können sich ein eigenes Instrument einfach kaufen. Doch der normale Weg zu einem eigenen Instrument ist meist ein anderer: zunächst befinden sich die gefertigten Instrumente weiter im Besitz des Instrumentenbauers - doch jeder Ork, der sich dazu berufen fühlt, dieses heilige Instrument zu spielen, muß sein Können an dem Instrument in regelmäßigen Ritualen unter Beweis stellen. Und wer irgendwann in den Augen des Meisters und Instrumentenbauers sein Spiel zur Perfektion gesteigert hat, der bekommt "sein" Instrument, denn schon recht bald nach Beginn der Unterweisung durch den Meister erhält der Schüler auch ein nur zu ihm gehörendes Übungsinstrument.<br /><br />Diese Instrumente, die wie der Baum, aus dem sie geschaffen werden, Krruejta heißen, sind nun in aller Regel gebogen geformt, der spielende Ork steigt oftmals in die Windung hinein, die Form variiert jedoch in vielfältiger Art. Es gibt spezielle Instrumentenbauer, die ihren eigenen Stil und auch ihre eigenen Theorien haben, wie bestimmte Klänge erzeugt werden können. Manche der Instrumente sind einem Ring gleich, der auf dem Boden liegt, nur das Mundstück ist emporgestreckt, andere winden sich um den Spieler herum, doch alle werden sie liegend oder halbliegend gespielt.<br />Die Spielweise selbst erfolgt nun dadurch, dass man den Mundes auf das ca. 8-9cm durchmessende Mundstück auflegt und durch die Lippen die Luftsäule in dem krruejta zum Schwingen bringt. Durch geschickte Zirkularatmung ist es möglich, einen permanenten Ton zu erzeugen. Die Klänge aus diesen Instrumenten sind oftmals sehr tief und manchmal an der Grenze zur Hörschwelle. Da Orks wesentlich besser hören als Alben oder Zwerge, sind die tiefsten Töne ihrer Instrumente für die anderen Völker gar nicht hörbar - doch sie fühlen sie tief in sich. Dies wird in manchen Fällen sogar als Foltermethode angewendet, denn gewisse Frequenzen rufen bei den anderen Völkern großes Unwohlsein hervor. Wird man über längere Zeit diesen Klängen ausgesetzt, so geht dieses Unwohlsein irgendwann in massive Übelkeit und schließlich in große Schmerzen über, bis hin zu irreparablen psychischen Schäden.<br />In ihren normalen musikalischen Darbietungen kommen diese Frequenzen aber für gewöhnlich nicht vor.<div style="clear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em"></div>

<div style="clear:both;"></div>Kleine Notizen am Rande: <br /><br />- Die nomadisch lebenden Orks halten sich eine bestimmte Tierart, die mit ihnen umherzieht, und das sie, nachdem die Tiere sich hingelegt haben, als "Sitzmöbel" benutzen!<br /><br />- Während einer Wanderung in Norwegens stillgelegten Silberabbaugebieten kam die Idee eines "Schubkarren-Friedhofs", weil dort so manche Schubkarre den Wegrand zierte ... im weitesten Sinn für die Weltenbastelei wären das Beerdigungsriten für Gebrauchsgegenstände, die einen hohen Stellenwert haben oder gar heilig sind (wie die Schiffe der Wikinger).<br /><br />- Aus den obigen beiden Bastel-Krümelchen entstand die Idee, daß die lebenden Sitzmöbel sich vor ihrem Tod zu speziellen "Elefantenfriedhöfen" zurückziehen, wo man Berge ihrer Knochen finden kann!<br /><br />- Körperflüssigkeiten, die als Tinte benutzt werden ... (noch nicht näher ausgearbeitet)<br /><br />- Zuneigungsbezeugungen durch Übergabe von Hervorgewürgter Nahrung. (Trolle?)<br /><br />- Zwei Gnome, die sich häuslich in den unbemerkten Ecken eines Restaurants niedergelassen haben, welches sich rühmt, seinen Gästen besonders schnell die Speisen zu servieren (und auch nur entsprechend schnell zuzubereitende Speisen anbietet). Die Gnome hören auf die Namen Tiksa und Patsi. (Wer die Anspielung erkennt, darf sich ein Satzzeichen seiner Wahl nehmen und behalten <img src="http://aeyansmottir.gomeck.de/serendipity/templates/default/img/emoticons/wink.png" alt=";-)" style="display: inline; vertical-align: bottom;" class="emoticon" /><br /><br />- Die Idee eines lebenden, riesigen Sonnensegels, das nur zum Sterben den Boden berührt und ansonsten zeitlebends in der Luft lebt, schläft und sich fortpflanzt und das sich ausschließlich von Sonnenlicht ernährt, wird für Æýansmottír als zu abgefahren und ohne richtigen Zweck verworfen, aber sehr wahrscheinlich nach Mysterion verfrachtet, wo solche sinnfreien Ideen bestens aufgehoben sind *grins*<div style="clear:both; padding-bottom:0.25em"></div>
